When you are eating a piece of fruit, you are eating a swollen ovary! Yes, that's right...fruit comes from a flowering plant which contains an ovary which will become the fruit! Food for thought: When you are drinking coffee you are drinking fruit juice! [Source: The BEST biology teacher in the world, Mr. Sproul]

William Keith Kellogg was born on April 7, 1860 in Battle Creek, Michigan. At 14, he quit school to work for his father as a traveling salesman. When he turned 18, he started working for his brother John. The brothers developed a method of rolling cooked cerial into flakes and toasting the flakes yielding a tasty and nutritious breakfast food. Will called this new breakfast food 'Kellogg's Corn Flakes'. In 1925, Will purchased 377 acres to set up an Arabian Horse Ranch. He stocked the ranch with only the best horses. Many of his horses came from Lady Wentworth's historic Crabbet Stud in England. He also acquired horses from Saudi, Egyptian and Polish stock. He gradually enlarged his ranch to 750 acres. W.K. Kellogg died in Battle Creek on October 6, 1951 at the age of 91. Today, you can still visit his Arabian Horse Ranch on any Sunday afternoon and see his beautiful horses perform before for the public and take a walk around the grounds and see the many new colts that are born there each year. Today his 750 acre Arabian Horse Ranch is called California Polytechnic State University at Pomona. (Cal-Poly Pomona) [Source: History of Cal-Poly Pomona]

Helium Pies were invented in 1986 in Towcester, UK in an attempt to provide an alternative light snack. Unfortunately, they didn't prove too popular. They tended to rise off the plate towards the ceiling, causing some nasty accidents when diners attempted to cut them up in mid air. Ed Note: Really?
